Join us for a guided tour of the art collection affiliated with the OAS. This collection includes contemporary and modern artworks from the Western Hemisphere, which promote creative expression addressing social and political issues. This tour includes the underground mural, Roots of Peace, created by Carlos Paez Vilaro. This colorful mural, at 530 feet is one of the longest murals in the world and is a daily reminder to OAS diplomats and staff of their mission to ensure peace and harmony throughout the Americas. The OAS recently opened public tours of the mural for the first time since it was painted in 1960. The tour is free, but donations are welcome. The building has a winding staircase to the second floor and does not have an elevator. However, the underground mural is accessible to all.
The building is located six blocks south of the Farragut West Metro, 18th Street exit (Orange and Silver lines). The 38B bus from Ballston will also take you to Farragut West.
Please RSVP by Tuesday, September 24. You may RSVP by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling the office at 703-509-8057.
