Join ANV on a docent-led tour of Marjorie Merriweather Post’s home, Hillwood, in Washington, D.C. The tour includes lunch in the beautiful surroundings of the Hillwood Cafe. Mrs. Post was known as a legendary hostess, businesswoman, diplomat, and philanthropist. She built Hillwood as her home and also as a museum to display her extensive decorative arts collection, including a large collection of Russian Imperial art.
We will meet at the Visitor Center at 10:45 am and begin our day with an orientation film of the estate and museum at 11:00 am. Lunch will follow and our tour begins at 1:30 pm. The house tour takes one hour so there will be time to stroll through Mrs. Post’s gorgeous gardens and/or museum collections before we head back to Arlington.
The cost of the tour and lunch is $32.95. Lunch includes a sandwich or quiche served with salad or soup, cookies, and a hot or cold beverage of your choice. We will send menu choices to those who RSVP, as we need to order lunch in advance. Please RSVP by April 5.
We ask that you pre-pay your reservation. To reserve your spot, payment must be received by April 7, either by check or on-line payment. If you are paying by check, please write “Hillwood” on the envelope and also on the memo line of the check. Checks should be mailed to Events, Arlington Neighborhood Villages Suite 100, 2666 Military Road, Arlington, VA 22207. If you wish to pay online with a VISA, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover credit card or via a PayPal account, go to our Payments for Events page.
Full-service members may request transportation, and carpooling will be available for those who want to travel together.
