Be an active participant in an interactive Balance and Fall Prevention Clinic!

Each year, one in three adults 65 and over falls. Half of these falls occur at home. Falls are the leading cause of injury for this age group. 90% of hip fractures in older adults result from falls. Each year, over 20,000 older adults die from fall-related injuries.

In recognition of the importance of fall prevention to the overall health and well-being of its members, Arlington Neighborhood Villages is sponsoring a Balance and Fall Prevention Clinic. Andrea Baumann will lead participants through several simple exercise routines designed to improve balance and build strength. Ms. Bauman has been teaching fitness to seniors for more than 20 years. Barbara Karro of the Arlington County Department of Parks and Recreation will provide some pointers on actions you can take to make your home more fall-proof.

Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes so you can participate in the exercise demonstrations. We look forward to seeing you there!
