The Ballston/Virginia Square village hosted a cookie exchange to celebrate the season at the Lexington Square Condo. Twenty Arlington Neighborhood Villages members, volunteers and guests showed off their baking expertise and shared their goodies with one another. Gary roasted his tasty coffee beans so the group could drink gourmet coffee along with their gourmet goodies. Melinda shared her “melting moments” while Anne brought her chocolate/toffee shortbreads. Even Anita got in on the exchange with her Swedish pepparkakors – store-bought but with her mother’s stamp of approval.
The Ballston/Virginia Square Village also collected gift cards for Arlington’s Secret Santa program. Gift cards totaling $335 were provided to the Department of Human Services to be distributed to low-income seniors, families and disabled persons living in our community. Now, that’s what a village is all about during this holiday season of giving.
