ANV Tai Chi — A gentle way to exercise and reduce stress

IMG_2624Whether you already practice Tai Chi or are curious to learn just what it is all about, drop in on ANV’s Tai Chi sessions. This is an informal practice group. Instruction is not provided.

Originally developed for self-defense, Tai Chi is now used for stress reduction, improved balance, and other health benefits. In colder weather, we meet in the Fellowship Hall at St. George’s Episcopal Church, 915 N. Oakland Street, Arlington, VA, in Virginia Square. Email awallgren@gmail.com for more details.

Spanish Conversation Group: Cafe Espanol

Coffee and Conversation – Arlington author Dave Tevelin

Arlington author, Dave Tevelin, will provide insights on his life as an author and talk about his books, “Death at the Howard” and the “Siege on the Capitol.”

Open to all – bring your own coffee, learn about aging in place with Arlington Neighborhood Village, and hear a speaker on an interesting topic. No RSVP needed.

We will meet in the cafe space under the stairs on the first floor. Free parking is available in the underneath garage on Level G1.

Martin Tolchin: President Trump – What’s Next?

Georgetown Village invites their neighboring villages and their members and volunteers to join them for a special talk by Martin Tolchin, discussing what we can expect from the new administration. Mr. Tolchin is a Senior Scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars and an enthusiastic Georgetown Village member.

Wine and light refreshments will be served. There is no charge for this program; however, they do need RSVPs. Please call 202-999-8988 or email Lynn@georgetown-village.org. Transportation may be available to ANV members upon request.

Staying Home: Smart Choices for Easy Living

Thinking about aging in place? Learn about resources available in Arlington to help you make housing decisions for the future. ANV is partnering with AARP and the Arlington Public Library to present a seminar including AARP’s “Home Fit Workshop” and a panel discussion including:

  • a realtor’s perspective,
  • what one ANV member has done to make his home safe and comfortable,
  • tips on how to hire a contractor, and
  • what ANV offers to help you continue living independently at home.

Transportation may be available to ANV members upon request. Free parking is available in the garage and parking lot.
