ANV Tai Chi — A gentle way to exercise and reduce stress

IMG_2624Whether you already practice Tai Chi or are curious to learn just what it is all about, drop in on ANV’s Tai Chi sessions. This is an informal practice group. Instruction is not provided.

Originally developed for self-defense, Tai Chi is now used for stress reduction, improved balance, and other health benefits. In colder weather, we meet in the Fellowship Hall at St. George’s Episcopal Church, 915 N. Oakland Street, Arlington, VA, in Virginia Square. Email awallgren@gmail.com for more details.

Spanish Conversation Group: Cafe Espanol

Lots of metered on-street parking usually available.

John Vihstadt, Arlington County Board member, will discuss the Board’s 2017 priorities including issues related to aging in place.

Open to all – bring your own coffee, learn about aging in place with Arlington Neighborhood Village, and hear a speaker on an interesting topic. No RSVP needed.

Opera Buffs Happy Hour: La Traviata

You are invited to join the Opera Buffs for a happy hour and discussion of Verdi’s La Traviata . If you would like to have a beverage and learn a little more about opera, please join us for the seventh opera in the live HD showings of the Met’s 2016-17 season. La Traviata will be shown at the Ballston Mall Regal Cinema on Saturday, March 11 at 12:55 pm.

Tickets for the opera showing are $24 for seniors. No RSVP is needed for the happy hour.

Virginia Williams, Energy Assistance Outreach Administrator, Dominion Power, will provide information on how to lower your energy bills and promote energy efficiency along with Dominion’s assistance programs for those facing financial hardships.

History Talk and Tour of Washington Golf & Country Club

General Manager Patrick Tobey will highlight Washington Golf’s rich history including how the Club’s founding intersects with the early history of the District of Columbia and Arlington County. Washington Golf, often called the Club of Presidents, was incorporated in 1894 making it the first golf club in Virginia and the ninth to join the US Golf Association. After Patrick’s talk, he will lead us on a tour of the Clubhouse.
