Tour of AFAC’s Newly Renovated Warehouse in Shirlington
Aug 2 @ 2:00 pm – 2:45 pm

Free parking is available in front of AFAC on South Nelson Street, at the nearby Shirlington Dog Park at the end of South Nelson, or at Jennie Dean Park.

Join us for a tour of the newly renovated Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC). Last year, a group of ANV members toured this local non-profit which provides vital services to Arlington’s seniors and low-income residents. Since last year’s ANV tour, the old warehouse and distribution center were ripped apart and rebuilt. AFAC is now proud to show off it’s more modern and spacious facility.

We will tour the warehouse where incoming deliveries, sorting, packing, and volunteer coordination take place. Learn about who is served and how they qualify, where the food donations come from, what goes out to recipients, and the many community events sponsored by AFAC such as Empty Bowls, healthy cooking demonstrations, and community gardens.

The tour will last approximately 40 minutes. After the tour, for those who are interested, we will head to nearby Shirlington for Happy Hour at Cheesetique, 4056 Campbell Avenue (map). The tour is limited to the first twenty people who RSVP. Please RSVP by July 27. You may RSVP by emailing register@arlnvil.org or by calling the office at 703-509-8057. Be sure to include the name of the event and name of each attendee, along with their email and/or phone number. Open to members and volunteers.
