ANV Tai Chi — A gentle way to exercise and reduce stress

IMG_2624Whether you already practice Tai Chi or are curious to learn just what it is all about, drop in on ANV’s Tai Chi sessions. This is an informal practice group. Instruction is not provided.

Originally developed for self-defense, Tai Chi is now used for stress reduction, improved balance, and other health benefits. In colder weather, we meet in the Fellowship Hall at St. George’s Episcopal Church, 915 N. Oakland Street, Arlington, VA, in Virginia Square. Email awallgren@gmail.com for more details.

Spanish Conversation Group: Cafe Espanol

IMG_3298This group will be very informal and for all levels of Spanish proficiency.

It will be held at Super Pollo Café. The waitstaff is mostly Central American and quite congenial—we can practice our Spanish with them too. Lots of metered on-street parking usually available.

Coffee and Conversation – Inova Advanced Illness and Geriatric Care

Diane Hendel, NP, Inova Advanced Illness and Geriatric Care, will provide information on the physician speciality of geriatrics and advanced care services. She will highlight Inova’s recently launched Geriatric and Advanced Illness practice which includes the Medical House Calls Program that provides comprehensive primary care services for homebound patients.

Celebrate Chinese New Year
Feb 7 @ 5:00 pm – 7:30 pm

Join our Dine Around group in celebrating the Year of the Rooster as we dine on an eight-course Chinese New Year dinner. The cost of the meal is between $20 – $25 per person which includes tax and gratuity. A cash bar is available. Located close to Rosslyn Metro, free parking in the building is available after 5 pm. Please bring cash in an envelope with your name(s) on the front of the envelope.

15th Anniversary of the Village Movement with Author Dr. Atul Gawande
Feb 13 @ 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm

Join ANV in celebrating the 15th Anniversary of the Village Movement with the Village to Village Network. Dr. Gawande will participate in a live event in Boston and simulcast to thousands of Village members across the country. ANV will be hosting a “watch party” so that we can celebrate the success of the village movement together and hear Dr. Gawande speak on the “value of community and choice, as we grow older.” Light refreshments will be served.

Free, open to everyone. Bring your friends and neighbors and introduce them to ANV.
