ANV Tai Chi — A gentle way to exercise and reduce stress @ Location varies depending on weather

Whether you already practice Tai Chi or are curious to learn just what it is all about, drop in on ANV’s Tai Chi sessions. This is an informal practice group. Instruction is not provided.

Originally developed for self-defense, Tai Chi is now used for stress reduction, improved balance, and other health benefits. In the colder weather, we meet in the Ballston Common, near the Randolph Street entrance. Email anitawallgren@arlnvil.org for more details.

Spanish Conversation Group: Cafe Espanol @ Super Pollo Cafe

IMG_3298This group will be very informal and for all levels of Spanish proficiency.

It will be held at Super Pollo Café. The waitstaff is mostly Central American and quite congenial—we can practice our Spanish with them too. Lots of metered on-street parking usually available.

Pick-up Bocce Ball (weather permitting) @ Glebe & Randolph Park

Come and join other ANV members, volunteers, and friends for fun and a little bit of exercise. All skill levels are welcome. No prior experience or knowledge of bocce is needed. Everyone gets a chance to play.

Opera Buffs Happy Hour: Tristan und Isolde @ The Celtic House Irish Pub and Restaurant

If you would like to have a cocktail and learn a little more about opera, please come and help kick off the season of live HD showings of the Met’s 2016-1017 season. Tristan und Isolde will be shown at the Ballston Mall Regal Cinema on Saturday, October 8 at Noon. Tickets for the opera showing are $24 for seniors. No RSVP needed for the happy hour. Using Assistive Technology to Make Life Easier: Gadgets, Gizmos, and Other Cool Stuff @ Arlington Central Library Auditorium

Learn how assistive technology devices for individuals of all ages can help us to remain independent and safe in our homes, and allow us to be proactive in our planning for the future. Join ANV volunteers, Mary Lee Byrd and Gail Kutner, as they open up their suitcases and show us the latest in assistive technology devices that improve a person’s ability to live and function independently. This program was developed by the Arlington Commission on Aging.

Free, open to members, volunteers and friends.

Free parking is available in the adjacent parking lot and underground garage.
